Types of Cufflinks

Cufflinks are to a man, what jewelry is to a woman. They are in fact a piece of jewelry for men to hold their shirt sleeves in place and it adds a personal classy touch to it. They not only accentuate the overall look but also give shirts a more formal look. Believe it or not there are seven different types of cufflinks to choose from.

1. Bullet Back Cufflink

Also called as Toggle Closure or Torpedo, they have a small cylinder shape at the back that can flip 90 degrees to fasten. Great for parties and formal occasions.

2. Fixed Back Cufflink

Also called Stub or button style, these cufflinks have no removable or moving parts to them. They may look complicated to wear but are in fact quite simple and more durable.

3. Chain Link Cufflink

As the name suggests, these cufflinks are attached to a chain and can be secured to one’s preference. They are normally reversible and make a stylish statement.

4. Whale Tail Cufflink

Also called Whale Back or Swivel Cufflink, these are similar to Bullet Backs but have a whale shaped tail that flips flat against the flat post for ease in wearing. Very popular and widely used.

5. Ball Return Cufflink

This cufflink can be differentiated with its ball shaped back. The front could be flat or rounded in many variations but the back will usually be rounded.

6. Locking Dual Action Cufflink

This cufflink uses the same mechanism as a metal watch band. They are easily locked inside the button hole of the sleeve and secured.

7. Knotted Cufflink

They work the same way as chain cufflinks but have a thick cord joining the two ball heads. They are more casual and come in various colors, giving a pop of color to a single coloured shirt.
