Continuing The Grand Duchess Vladimir's sapphire collection with another stunning piece of jewelry. This alluring replica sapphire earring adorns a 6 carat gem each. Intricately placed around the lustrous CZ, this historic earring is truly a handcrafted masterpiece.

Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna's exquisite sapphire earrings, once adorning the aunt of the last Russian tsar, Nicholas II, narrate a story of opulence and resilience during the tumultuous 1917 revolution.

As Her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna of Russia, also known as The Grand Duchess Vladimir, she held a distinguished place among historical jewelry collectors. Married to Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich in 1874, her collection featured ear clips with step-cut sapphires weighing 6.69 and 9.36 carats, from Ceylon, dating back to the early 1900s.

Amidst the Russian revolution, Maria Pavlovna entrusted her cherished jewels to British diplomat Albert Henry Stopford. Disguised as a laborer, Stopford carefully retrieved and safeguarded the jewels from Vladimir Palace in Saint Petersburg.

On September 26, 1917, Stopford discreetly carried 244 pieces of Maria Pavlovna's jewelry to London. Often hailed as the "Queen of St. Petersburg," Pavlovna, one of the last Romanovs to leave Russia, fled in 1919 and passed away in France a year later.

The legacy of these jewels endured through her daughter, Princess Elena of Greece and Denmark. In a poignant twist, these historic artifacts made their debut at Sotheby's Geneva in 2009, providing enthusiasts a tangible connection to a bygone era, a testament to the enduring elegance of a remarkable woman amid the tumultuous backdrop of revolutionary times.
